Natural Stone Steps & Stairs

Our stone stairs are typically constructed using split basalt, though other stone options are available depending on the project and site conditions. Steps can be finished with either a natural rough tread for a more organic look, or diamond-cut treads for precise, consistent rise and height.

We strongly believe that using properly quarried stone steps steps is both the better-looking and more cost-effective approach in the long run. Trying to force generic flat stones into stair construction often leads to:

We often accent the edges of patios and walkways with intermittent accent stones—carefully selected for shape, size, and placement. This isn’t something that can be rushed or replicated without experience.
